JU-NI SUSHI

SAN FRANCISCO, CA

This Michelin star rated omakase style restaurant in San Francisco's NOPA district offers chef's choice sushi in a modern and intimate setting.  The twelve seat sushi bar was designed to create a unique experience for each dining guest. The sushi bar is laid out to give each chef, serving only 4-6 customers, their own customized setting to efficiently create each individual piece of sushi while providing an intimate visual performance for the customers.

The design concept was inspired by the rhythm of Japanese tatami mats, piecing together rectangles with the proportions of 2:1.  The individual place settings, custom millwork shelving, and wooden soffit above, all follow this geometric harmony.  The selected finishes provide a contrast of cool modern materials and warm linear wood.

"Contemporary, upscale bistro with clean lines & counter seats serving elevated omakase sushi." - Google

"Unlike most other San Francisco omakase restaurants, many which have cocoon-like interiors, Ju-ni is open but exudes an aura of serenity. As with the best sushi experiences, the diner’s senses are honed and the subtle details — both in the fish and the interior — are revealed in stages. A wood box holds chopsticks. A dropped ceiling over the sushi counter lends a cozy intimacy. A rectangle of polished wood, wiped down between bites, becomes the platform for the bites placed before diners."
